Job Title: Assistant Solicitor
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

The Firm
Multi-disciplinary practice with offices in Surbiton and Feltham. A busy Family department dealing with a range of legal disputes including public law children, private law children, divorce and financial disputes.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience required
- 2 years + PQE in Family Law;
- Registered with the Law Society and Family Panel or otherwise willing to work towards becoming a Panel member;
- File management skills including financial management skills particularly concerning fee earning and accounting rules;
- Ability to prioritise work and function effectively under pressure;
- Ability to work to set deadlines;
- Ability to get on with people of all backgrounds and motivate others;
- Proper telephone manner in accordance with the Firm’s requirements;
- Proper client care in accordance with Firm’s requirements;
- Committed and highly driven;
- Must have a clean, valid Practicing Certificate at the time of applying;
- Strong management skills;
- Committed team player with ability to approach team concerns fairly, foster culture of positive change and encourage cross referrals;
- Professional with a pro-active approach; excellent client care skills and ability to deal with vulnerable client matters in a sensitive manner and resolve complicated practicalities involved in Family Law issues;
- Excellent networking and communication skills with the ability to successfully market the Company and generate new business.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Responsible for all aspects of Family Law work including providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members;
- Registered with the Law Society and Family Panel or otherwise willing to work towards becoming a Panel member;
- Variety of duties including dealing with a range of Family work including divorce, financial disputes and remedies, injunctions/ non molestation orders;
- You will have a professional pro-active approach, strong client care skills and be interested in Business Development and Marketing to supplement the substantial work volumes brought in by the company;
- To be responsible for own training programme;
- To manage case files in accordance with the Firm’s policy;
- To manage file finance in accordance with the Firm’s policy and Solicitors accounts rules;
- To attend upon clients of the Firm either at court or in the office to properly take instructions;
- To communicate with clients and others by letter, telephone and in person;
- To attend counsel, clients and witnesses at court hearings and case conferences;
- To ensure client’s affairs and the business of the Firm are kept confidential.
